Welcome to the Shaolin Kung Fu website for Manchester Universities. We are a club dedicated to the martial art of Goa Can Mun Nam Pai Chuan, a kung fu system which has evolved from the Shaolin monasteries in China. Today, our system is taught and practiced at several locations in the UK and overseas, including the Manchester area.
The system is taught through a structured syllabus of traditional and modern elements, including sparring, traditional forms (one-man and two-man), weapons, chi gung and a series of combat/self defence sequences. Our approach to training not only promotes physical strength and endurance, but also requires sustained mental development, so that a student's practical skill is well rooted in a firm understanding of the system's philosophy.
Paul Plant teaches two classes in the central Manchester area on Mondays and Thursdays (see 'contact' link). Beginners are welcome to take part in our dynamic and friendly classes. To register your interest or for further information please refer to our Contact page.
We are registered with the British Council for Chinese Martial Arts (BCCMA), the controlling body for chinese martial arts in the UK. Through the BCCMA we provide comprehensive insurance cover for all our students and instructors.
